Sennheiser partners Java Jazz Festival for the third consecutive year

Indonesia, 14 March 2013 – The ninth edition of the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival, held at the Jakarta International Expo on 1–3 March 2013, is an annual music event organised since 2005, and has now become the largest jazz music event in Asia that pays tribute to the legends that once graced the world of jazz music locally and internationally. For the third consecutive year, Sennheiser Asia partnered the festival organisers, PT Java Festival Production, as an audio equipment sponsor.

Over 130 local and international well-known musicians gathered to perform on 13 different stages for the three-day event, including Grammy-winning musicians, singers, songwriters, and producers. Key performances featured English singers and songwriters, Joss Stone, Lisa Stansfield, and Craig David. The line-up of popular Indonesian musicians also included jazz vocalist and Sennheiser SKM 5200-II user, Andien.

Sennheiser Asia, together with the support of its local distributors (PT Galva Technovision, PT Indika Siar Sarana, PT Tri Tunggal Abadi, and PT Suara Visual Indonesia), was on-site to provide equipment and technical support for the festival’s main stages, press conference, gala dinner, as well as the largely-celebrated festival pre-event stage, known as “Java Jazz on the Move” (JJOTM) at the Pendopo Lounge in Hotel Borobudur.

During the festival’s official press conference on 27 February 2013, where Sennheiser Asia announced the endorsement of its first Indonesian singer, Raisa Andriana, Sennheiser microphones and L-Acoustics speakers were supplied for the event. Four channels of evolution wireless vocal microphones and various evolution 900 series wired instrument microphones were supplied for live artiste performances, while eight MD 46 reporter microphones were also used as panel microphones for the speaking panel. Three cabinets of L-Acoustics KARA loudspeakers and two SB18 subwoofers were floor-stacked per side as front-of-house speakers.

The festival also hosted a by-invite only gala dinner event at Hotel Borobudur, which Sennheiser supported as part of the partnership agreement. Eight channels of 2000 Series professional wireless microphones and numerous evolution 900 series wired instrument microphones were setup to cater for live stage performances during the dinner. Three cabinets of L-Acoustics KARA loudspeakers and two SB18 subwoofers were paired per side as front-of-house speakers with two additional KARA cabinets on stage for front fill audio. One pair of K-array KR200 Redline speakers was also deployed as out fill, in order to extend coverage to the extreme left and right seating areas of the ballroom.

At the Pendopo Lounge, the JJOTM stage was fitted with Sennheiser microphones. Four channels of evolution wireless 500 G3 series, assorted evolution 900 series wired instrument microphones, as well as MK 4 condenser microphones (mounted on Rycote Lyre supensions) for drums, saw many spontaneous jazz performances by the star-studded festival cast in a casual and inviting setting.

In the main festival grounds, eight channels of Sennheiser evolution wireless 300 IEM G3 systems circulated amongst eight international performing stages involving celebrated artistes with the likes of Craig David, Lisa Stansfield, and Spyro Gyra. President of Sennheiser Asia, Ng Chee Soon commented, "We are thrilled to be working with the festival organisers once again. This is an excellent platform for us to continue to showcase the Sennheiser brand as a leading audio expert in Indonesia that is synonymous with such a highly-acclaimed music festival.”

On top of the audio equipment support, a 200 square-metre brand booth at the festival grounds was constructed with a dedicated 50 square-metre consumer experience zone, where the new MOMENTUM Black headphones were unveiled to the public for the first time in Indonesia. Festival attendees and performers alike also received numerous photo printouts at Sennheiser’s instant photo booth. The Sennheiser booth also featured a live performance area where festival goers were entertained by daily stage performances by local jazz bands, Lani & The Bees and the Acadian Blues Band. The stage was equipped with four channels of evolution wireless vocal microphones, assorted evolution 900 series wired instrument microphones, as well as L-Acoustics SB18 subwoofer and 115HiQ active stage monitor speakers on each side as a front-of-house system together with one pair of K-array KR200 Redline speakers for stage side fill.
